A peek behind the lens
Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of a fashion shoot? The end result often looks effortless, but there is so much more to it than meets the eye.
Today, I take you briefly behind the lens.
The preparation
A shoot at Marie Méro starts with a brainstorm about where, how and what image we want to bring with the collection.
Once the idea is there, careful planning begins.
Weeks, sometimes even months in advance, the styling team meets for this. They are supported by the marketing manager.
Mood boards are created to give a visual direction, drawing inspiration from various sources.
The make-up artist, photographer and stylists are briefed.
The Set
The day of the shoot arrives and the location is buzzing with activity.
Marie Méro chose a studio shoot with a calm background.
The focus is on the collection.
Through the right combinations, the styling team brings the different dressing moments to the fore.
Everyone has their own role and contributes to the big picture.
The make-up artists are busy applying make-up and styling the models' hair. Meanwhile, the garments are carefully steamed and prepared by the stylists.
The set is set up according to the concept, with everything checked down to the smallest details.
The Model
We work with 3 models.
Their job is to bring the story of the clothes to life.
In front of the camera, they assume different poses and follow the photographer's instructions.
Between shots, short breaks are taken to relax.
Marie Méro chooses 3 models and 3 different types of women to show that the collection is specially designed for every woman.
The photographer
The photographer is the director of the shoot. They determine the angles, light, and composition of each photo in collaboration with styling team. During the shoot, they constantly communicate with the model and team to make sure everyone is on the same page.
Sometimes hundreds of photos are taken to get that one perfect shot. It is a process of constant tweaking and fine-tuning.
The Post-processing
After the shoot, the work is not over. The styling team selects the best images. The photographer starts post-processing. This includes retouching minor issues and perfecting the look of the photo.
The final result
When all the pieces of the puzzle come together, the concept becomes reality. The photos are published in magazines, on social media or in advertising campaigns, and we only see the end result, also beautiful images that inspire and dazzle us.
But now you know that behind every perfect photo is a team of talented people who have worked hard to create those images.
