Meet Nico, production manager: "A good product, delivered on time and at the right price. That's what I have to deliver!"
I studied to become a garment engineer in Germany. This program still doesn't exist in Belgium. My biggest challenge as production manager is to create a top-notch collection every season. We literally go from one prototype to production, so it has to be perfect right away. My job is so fascinating because I'm involved in the production process from the very beginning. Together with Nancy (head of design), I determine which fabrics we could use for each model. They have to fit within the budget, but the quality of the fabrics is also crucial, of course.
We check absolutely everything. Does the fabric shrink, does it drape well, etc. More than 70% of our collection is developed in-house. The first prototype is made in our sewing workshop. Once it's perfect, I have the prototype duplicated by our production partners abroad. These pieces are then presented to our customers. And then the final production follows. Every season, I challenge our partners to guarantee the quality of our pieces. Because we always want the best for our customers. That constant drive to deliver a good product. I've only seen that at Marie Méro!
